Reduce development costs and associated risks!

9:00am - 10:00am A COTS Perspective: Transformational Intraplatform Networks

The GIG, NCO, and the adoption of IPv6 are key initiatives that are driving networking architectures into the core of every air, land, and sea platform in the battlefield. As a result, there is a formation of deeply embedded Intra-Platform Networks (IPNs) that are transforming vehicle electronics from the inside out. This session will discuss the most current embedded hardware and software technology trends that are helping to transform vehicle electronics architectures into secure high performance network ready systems. Attend this session to:

  • Learn how to apply the concepts behind Transformational IPNs to create network ready systems for legacy and future force programs
  • See examples of standard COTS/Modified COTS building blocks such as routers, switches, processing nodes, storage nodes, graphics engines, interconnects, standard backplanes, and 'certifiable' safety/security software components
  • Discover how to use these to reduce costs, reduce risks, and accelerate time to deployment

10:00am - 11:00am The Heart Beacon

The Heart Beacon is an all hazards process that addresses data temporal/exchange interoperability gaps by Common Alert Protocol CAP instantiated data exchanges for military, first responder, and commercial/financial domains. By standardizing data exchange formats, symbol sets, event refresh rates; direct collaboration among military, financial, and other dissemination and telemetry systems using commercial, open, standardized frameworks is possible. Router multicast radius are adjustable - e.g., increase/decrease with audible tones and vibratory levels based on business logic/military mission thread logic according to threshold rules visually displayed as concentric color band expansion/collapse based on DHS and other multi level color/audible advisory schemes. Medical triage, alert, evacuation, alternate routing of transportation assets, will then adjust and filter consistently by commercial world business logic/military mission threads by zones. Organizations, entities, platforms, vehicle, mobile smart phone type and sensor equipped devices via router network data heartbeat messages updates will spontaneously integrate connecting adhoc task forces among disparate entities enabling the network to be maneuvered to support unified operational, financial, disaster, humanitarian and situation awareness events/alerts/N1-1 Public services.

11:00am - 12:00pm Powering Next-Gen Command Decision Applications with Highest Performance COTS DBMS

Secure and reliable network access for Battlefield Commanders is of limited value if the data isn't returned in time to respond to threat. So, in the past, due to limitations of traditional DBMSs, highly custom, difficult to develop and hard to maintain data management systems were required. Now, modern server platforms have enabled a "3rd" Generation of COTS DBMS capability to leverage today's small footprint, large-memory, 64-bit, multi-core computing.

  • Learn how to take advantage of this technology to provide low-cost, standards-based, COTS infrastructure stacks.
  • See how this technology can be deployed to support the Tactical User on "site" or in the Cloud.
  • Discover how to use standards-based, COTS DBMS technology to tap widely-available skill sets to modernize and deliver tactical-edge performance faster.

2:00pm - 3:00pm Unified Profile For DoDAF And MODAF

UPDM is the Unified Profile for DoDAF and MODAF. The UPDM specification was developed by a diverse group of tool vendors, end users, academia, and government representatives. UPDM enjoys the full support of the DOD and MOD. The UML/SysML foundation improves the integration between architectural framework modeling and system modeling to support post acquisition life-cycle design and implementation. This presentation provides a brief introduction to how UPDM will provide a standard means of expressing DoDAF and MODAF using SysML and UML, an overview of the UPDM views and viewpoints and language concepts, and selected sample problems to demonstrate how the language can provide the answers to problems found in projects:

  • How to avoid the problems of stovepipe development?
  • How to ensure that systems deployment is in line with capability deployment requirements?
  • How to effectively use MBSE to provide trade-off analysis?
  • How to transition from a system of systems to systems development?
  • How to ensure system interfaces are compatible?
  • How to communicate with non-experts?
  • How to reuse architectures?
  • How to integrate requirements management into modeling?

3:00pm - 4:00pm Global Logistics Support Network (GLSN)

GLSN, a General Dynamics Land Systems approach, to Improve the availability of logistics data; minimize the footprint of logistics assets, and lower life cycle costs in any mission, at the right time, anytime, and anywhere. GLSN facilitates communication and data transmission seamlessly across organizations and integrates the supplier/ customer workflows. The forum will examine key features of GLSN and the System of Systems approach designed to meet the objective of end to end enterprise logistics for acquisition and sustainment on legacy and future platforms. Attend this session to:

  • Learn how to automate the delivery process of Logistic Products utilizing a Web Based interface
  • Automate Work Flow processes related to Delivery of Logistics Support Package
  • Gain valuable insight on the challenges and strategies of converting current and legacy logistic data to a standard format
  • Explore GLSN and the Integrated Logistics Management Environment (ILME) to maximize reuse of logistical data, facilitate communication and data transmission seamlessly across organizations
